Most of you know by now that I am a huge Marvel / superhero nerd. :o)

My husband and I recently decided to re-watch Deadpool. Early in the movie, the title character says the following:

Life is an endless series of train wrecks with only brief, commercial-like breaks of happiness.

At first glance, it is a rather bleak way to look at life. But the quote stuck with me, and after much rumination, it occurred to me it’s not at all a negative way to look at life.

The reality is, so often we keep “waiting” for everything to finally fall into place, and then everything will be ok and then we’ll have the time to be happy / relax / play (the list goes on and on).

While we wait, life keeps moving forward, at a rapid rate. (And even faster, the older we get.)

As Annette Funicello said:

Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.

Do not wait for life to be perfect to enjoy it; if you wait for perfection, you will miss all of fun of life’s bursts of commercials.
